[Quyen] Day 16: Summer is for Sunscreen, Cucumber Style
Soothing natural sunscreen. Not so bad? Yes to Cucumbers has a natural sunscreen touted at SPF 30. $11.99 for 3 ounces. I’ve got the sample size. It’s apparently water resistant for 40 minutes. The active ingredients are zinc oxide (which I learned in a previous review how it blocks UV rays) and titanium dioxide, which apparently absorbs UV rays. It’s also rich in cucumbers (for vitamins that soften and smooth the skin – like I’ve seen put on eyes during facials), green tea (a natural antioxidant and astringent to help refresh skin), and aloe vera (for moisturizing and protection).
I tried it on as I was preparing for my horseback riding lesson. While the lesson is scheduled for 8am, I feel it’s still important to protect. I used this in place of my face sunscreen, and quickly found myself trying to spread it more evenly because it came on very white! I should have tried it on my arms or some other area instead.
Nonetheless, it seemed to do the trick. My skin did feel drier when I returned, but again I’m not sure if that’s because I’ve been so used to non-organic products for so long. The next time, I think I would like to try it for the beach or some other outdoor activity and see how it works there. For sure I am not going to use to replace my facial version, unless I’m trying to make a new fashion statement downtown with an uber white face.
