[Quyen] Day 11: Organic Lip Balm that Works!

Jul 20, 2013

I had historically been using Chapstick branded lip balm for my daily use. Looking up the ingredients list, I find that the Classic version that I use contains methylparaben and propylparaben. Not to mention 49.92 ug/stick of aluminum! Methylparabens are used to preserve the life of a product, are quickly absorbed through the skin and are linked to skin damage, eye damage, breast cancer and male fertility. Yikes! Propylparabens are also linked to breast cancer. Perhaps the small dose in the chapstick might not seem like much, but considering that I’m finding more and more of my current products containing these and other dangerous ingredients, I can’t help but think what compound impact they have been having on my health.

When I had gone to Ulta Beauty to find a new SPF moisturizer, I also came across a line of lip balm from Evolution of Smooth. They are packaged in these cute little egg-shaped velvety spheres in 7 great flavors: Pomegranate Raspberry, Strawberry Sorbet, Summer Fruit, Sweet Mint, Honeysuckle Honeydew, Medicated Tangerine, and Lemon Drop with SPF 15. Best of all, they’re organic! 95% organic, 100% natural, no parabens, no petrolatums.

I’ve been using it for a few days now and find it not only effective, but also fun to use. The packaging seems a little over the top, but at the same time makes it hard to lose. This has been working better than the Mongo Kiss line that I had tried recently. Looking forward to trying new flavors in the future.
